Fly

Drawing

I was given the opportunity to make this piece for a charity auction by Community Living Centers, which houses people with developmental disabilities. After visiting the residents there, I was inspired by their strong friendships and sense of community. They are represented by the two birds, who have the potential to fly by living happy, fulfilling lives and sharing their positivity with others. Residents saw the world from a unique perspective; they had great hopes for the future.

A tree and outline of a birdhouse stand behind the birds in my drawing. These are a reminder of the support many people have shown the residents and how much it makes a difference in their lives. Simply having a place to rest and make friends has enabled them to do great things.
